Principal's Message 

Welcome Back To School!

What a warm and welcoming start at Yarra Road Primary School I have had! I would like to take this opportunity to thank students, staff and parents for all of your smiles and chats over the past week and a half. I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone and getting to know you and your school. 

Students have commenced Term 2 very happily, eager to see each other and staff after a relaxing break. Thank you to parents and staff for supporting students back into school routines, which is integral to such a smooth transition. 

A reminder that there is no parking at the front of the school during the morning ‘Kiss and Drop’, to allow students to be delivered safely and efficiently to school each morning. Please park elsewhere if you need to walk your child/ren into school.

Please remember that Thursday 25th April (tomorrow) is a Public Holiday, with students returning on Friday 26th April. If your family has decided to take Friday as an additional day off, please mark your child/ren as absent for Friday, on Compass, as soon as possible. 

ANZAC Day – Thursday 25th April 2024

As the sun rose on 25 April 1915, Australian and New Zealand soldiers rowed towards the shores of Gallipoli and into history. Every year since, Australians have gathered to remember their legacy and that of all who have followed in their footsteps.

ANZAC Day is a time to reflect, and remember the service and sacrifices of all who have served gallantly for our country.

Attitudes to School Survey

WE WANT OUR STUDENTS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what your child thinks of our school. The Attitudes to School survey is an annual survey for Years 5 to 12 students offered by the Department of Education and Training. It is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of students' perceptions and experience of school. Our school will use the survey results to plan programs and activities to improve your child's experience at school.Students in years 4, 5 and 6 will participate in this year’s survey. All responses to the survey are anonymous. In 2024, the Attitudes to School Survey will be offered to students to complete online from 6 May to 14 June 2024.The survey only takes 20-30 minutes to complete and occurs during your child's class time.The survey results will be reported back to the school by the end of July. Survey results will be communicated back to the school community via School Council and highlights shared in the newsletter. More information is available at Attitudes To School Survey .

2025 Prep Information Evening

The Yarra Road 2025 Prep Information Evening is on Tuesday 7th May. The evening begins with a school tour at 6:30pm (optional), then followed by the Information Evening at 7:00pm. Please click below to book your spot.

Help Needed for Our YRPS Mother's Day Stall

As Mother's Day approaches, the Parents association are excited to share news of our upcoming Mother's Day Stall on Friday, 10th May, during school hours. This event is a wonderful opportunity for children to select meaningful gifts for their cherished mothers, grandmothers, nans, or other special individuals. All proceeds from the Mother's Day Stall will directly support the Parents Association's fundraising initiatives, benefiting our entire school community.

To ensure the success of this event, we are also reaching out to our amazing community for volunteers who can spare some time to assist with the stall. Your support will not only ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for our young shoppers.

Please note that all volunteers must have a valid Working with Children's Check on file with the school office.
