Sacramental Candidates 2023/2024 ~

On Thursday night, we gathered at St. Anne's with our sacramental candidates in our last cluster group for the term. This gathering marked an important milestone in our journey of faith, as we continued our learning on Confirmation & the Holy Spirit. We engaged in the learning of the Gifts & Fruits of the Spirit and we recognised & acknowledged 'who are the Spirit-filled people in our own lives'. This also gave us the opportunity to thank God for these people.

As we embark on the next phase of our sacramental journey, our attention turns towards the profound sacrament of the Eucharist. We look forward to gathering again in the first week back of Term 2 at our school, St Mel's, as we explore the mysteries of the Eucharist together. We look forward to seeing you there.

Lent comes providentially to reawaken us, to shake us from our lethargy.

Holy Week ~

As we prepare for Holy Week/The Easter Triduum, the most significant time in our Church's calendar, we look forward to reflecting & gathering together. We are blessed to be at school during Holy Week this year, as we gather for our Whole School Holy Week Liturgies. Holy Week represents an opportunity for spiritual reflection, community engagement in rituals, and profound moments of learning and connection.

Holy Week in our Parish & local churches: We invite you to participate and share in some of these rituals with our community.

Project Compassion ~

Thank you to everyone who was able to bring a gold coin donation on Harmony Day, we were able to raise $125.85 for Caritas' Project Compassion Appeal as a School Community.

Thank you

The theme of Project Compassion 2024 is ‘For All Future Generations’ and reminds us that the good that we do today will extend and impact the lives of generations to come. It invites us to make the world a better place by working together now and finding long-term solutions to global issues.  We encourage you to put your compassion into action this Lent through your prayer, fasting and almsgiving by supporting Project Compassion. Each pastoral group has a  Project Compassion box you can use to donate or you can donate online via the Caritas Australia website listed below.

Harmony Day ~

A wonderful day of celebration for Harmony Day, where our students showcased their appreciation for diversity and unity. Harmony Day, which is celebrated annually on March 21st, is a day dedicated to celebrating Australia's cultural diversity and promoting inclusiveness, respect, and a sense of belonging for everyone.

Our school embraced the spirit of Harmony Day with enthusiasm, engaging students in prayer and various activities that highlighted the importance of cultural harmony and understanding. Our students are so proud of who they are and where they come from, it is just so wonderful to see and be a part of the inclusive and vibrant culture we have created here at St. Mel's.
