A snapshot from the classrooms this fortnight

Kindergarten - Jacqueline Pribilovics

This term in Kindergarten we have been learning about weather and the daily and seasonal changes in the environment. As part of our learning in STEM/Science and Technology, Kindergarten has been exploring how digital technology can enhance learning. Green screen projects have the potential to give students deep, creative learning experiences. All students had the opportunity to transport themselves around the world and report on the weather from their chosen location.

Year 1 - Eva Clinton

Year One have been working so hard during Reading Groups and are making great progress every week. During Reading Groups the children work independently to improve their reading comprehension and help build their fluency. They engage in handwriting tasks linked to the sound of the week and they work on Reading Eggs tasks. They also get time to read with the teacher where they build on their reading skills.

Year 2 - Aoife Geraghty

This fortnight, Year Two have finished looking at 2D Shapes and are moving onto forming groups in Maths. Students have been actively engaging with each other using counters to form and count groups. On Tuesday, the Year One and Two students did a fantastic job at reenacting Easter Sunday and sharing the good news that Jesus has risen! I hope you all had a lovely Easter weekend with family and friends! We were very lucky to get a visit from the Easter bunny last Thursday. The students were busy collecting eggs in their Easter basket wearing the bunny ears they crafted!

Year 3 - Hannah Jory & Holley Giannikos

Liturgical Season of Easter

To celebrate the Liturgical Season of Easter, Year 3 created artworks using warm coloured oil pastels, smudging techniques and a silhouette of a cross. This artwork reminds us that the Liturgical Season of Easter is a time for celebration, new beginnings and new life.

Year 4 - Bella Abruzzese

Year 4 had a fabulous day at Bondi Beach Pavilion, where they participated in the Ocean Lovers Festival. The children made seahorse hotels, studied different sharks, voted for their favourite Waste Competition sculpture and learnt about keeping our oceans clean and safe for all of our animals. It was great to see how much Year 4 care for our environment!

Stage 3 - Anna Kelly & Laura Courtenay

Year 5- Anna Kelly

In Drama our teacher Mrs Jory gave us a scenario about how the rainbow got its colours. We had a couple of weeks to build props, create a script and practise our act. In our groups we made sure that we had a mix of boys and girls. At the end of the term we will perform our acts in front of our peers and Mrs Jory will record us. Together we had loads of fun and certainly enjoyed the past few weeks of Drama.

Year 6  Laura Courtenay

Just before the Easter holidays, Year 6 prepared a special Easter surprise for our Kindergarten Buddies. We put together an Easter Scavenger hunt for our buddies that we had been preparing for the past few days. In class we made: a bunny bag, wooden spoon bunny puppets, an Easter card and more. We hid all the creations we had made for Kindergarten and they hunted for them. We had so much fun with our buddies and we are sure they enjoyed it too!
