Sound Waves Spelling Program
Yesterday afternoon, our staff were joined by a representative from Sound Waves to further explore the use of this spelling program in our school.
Sound Waves is a spelling program that gradually teaches students a range of skills and strategies that help them develop an understanding of how the English language works.
This year all students K-6 are involved in the program. Each week the students are engaged in learning about a new phoneme (sound) and its corresponding grapheme (letters). Please ask your child what sound they are learning this week!
Soccer Skills Workshop
An enormous thank you to Tim Barry (Nicholas and Joshua), who came to educate our Years 3-6 students on the rules of soccer this week. Soccer is a much loved sport at Holy Family and sometimes the rules of the game become a point of conversation between our students. Mr Barry talked about the rules of the game, fair play and gave suggestions for further games e.g. Flat Fridays. He then refereed a game between students demonstrating all of these skills.
We are very grateful for Tim's time and passion to help our students. Any other parents with a love for soccer are very welcome to referee during lunch times if able to.
Have a lovely weekend.
