Kitchen Garden

On Monday, 3S enjoyed their 3rd Kitchen Garden session under the shade of the trees in the school yard. It was a hot afternoon, and given the garden has little shade, we decided to change the location for the session. Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve been collecting seeds from various plants, so this week we took the opportunity to sort and store the seed in tubs.

We also made origami envelopes which we labelled and put seed into. We will sell these seed packets at our Kitchen Garden stall at the Art Show next term and also share some with the KG children.

At home you can begin preparing your garden beds with fertiliser, manure and compost ready to plant out with winter crops. Think broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, silverbeet, brussel sprouts, leeks, peas and year round crops of lettuce, carrots, beetroot and spring onions.

Happy Gardening.

We've loved seeing students from Years 1-6 voluntarily helping in our garden this week!
