St Roch’s School theme 2026:

"United in Faith, Sharing the Light"

Dear Families,

Welcome to Issue 8 for 2026 of our iNewsletter! We hope this newsletter continues to keep you up to date with all the news, events and learning that happens at St Roch's.

With winter just around the corner, we want to make sure we are doing everything we can to keep our staff, students and community healthy and well during the colder months. With that in mind, we gently remind parents to please ensure your children are feeling 100% before sending them to school. Keeping the children home when they are under the weather makes a huge difference in protecting the health of our students, teachers and support staff. We want our staff to be healthy enough to be teaching your children at school.

Code of Conduct

This notice is a friendly reminder that the MACS Code of Conduct applies to all activities taking place both within and outside of St Roch’s. Designed to keep everyone in our community safe, the Code ensures we always interact respectfully and act as positive role models for our students.

As a reminder, the MACS Code of Conduct applies to:

  • Staff & Students
  • Parents & Volunteers
  • Spectators & Contractors

Whether you are on school grounds or attending sporting events, excursions, incursions, or other school-related activities, adhering to this Code is a requirement for everyone. (As a reminder, this agreement was signed at the beginning of the school year or upon joining our community).

Thank you for your continued cooperation in maintaining a safe, respectful and supportive environment for all. Please note that any breaches of the Code of Conduct will be taken seriously and may result in follow-up consequences.

Congratulations to all who participated at Cross Country!

Mrs King and all of us are extremely proud of all students who competed at the Cross Country events.

Congratulations to these athletes placed in the top five for their race which sees them progress through to Division:

3rd place - Amelia Kirkwood and Oscar Nolan

5th place - Matthew Mount

8th place - Tabitha O'Connor

13th place - Charlotte Strauss

Thank you to Mr Pinchbeck who trained the children at lunchtimes and to the parents who cheered loudly from the sidelines and to Marjie King as well as all of our staff who attended and supported the events and training.

We wish Amelia, Oscar, Matthew, Tabi and Charlotte all the very best at Division Cross Country where they will compete in a few weeks time.

Year 2 Assembly

A huge thank you to our wonderful Year 2 class for treating us to an absolutely spectacular assembly this afternoon! Their performance on the theme of respect was not only deeply meaningful but also thoroughly entertaining from start to finish.

From confident speaking to brilliant acting, they did an incredible job delivering such an important message to the whole school. We are so incredibly proud of the hard work, enthusiasm and star quality they showed on the stage.

Thank you, Year 2, Louise Bolton and Anne Pullen as well as Rachel Gray, for creating this wonderful performance and reminding us all how important it is to treat one another with respect!

Australian Parliament House Flag Roadshow

We are extremely proud that the Chisolm electorate was one of the participating electorates for the Australian Parliament House (APH) Flag Roadshow.

The APH Flag Roadshow is an initiative of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Honourable Milton Dick MP. It aims to promote the significance of the Australian National Flag as a symbol of Australian Democracy.

Through the program one of the iconic Australian flags that flies atop Australian Parliament House was brought to St Roch’s Parish Primary School yesterday.

It was great to give us a rare opportunity to interact with the flag in person and talk about its significance as well as the opportunity for our students to unfurl the flag and touch it!!

We are grateful to Dr Carina Garland (Labour Member for Chisholm MP) for providing this opportunity to St Roch’s!

Students learnt the Parliament House flag mast is 81 metres tall and weighs 220 tonnes, making it one of the largest stainless-steel structures in the world!

The students loved seeing the flag in person and were surprised to learn that it is about the same size as the side of a  double decker bus! It fitted perfectly into our beautiful hall.

Save the date!

St Roch’s Community Catch-Up: Past & Present!

It takes a village and we happen to think the St Roch’s village is the absolute best.

A special message on behalf of Dave Sheehy to invite all past and current parents or anyone with a connection to St Rochs (including teachers) to attend this evening.

Bringing together our wonderful community for a casual social night! Whether your kids are currently in uniform, graduated years ago, or you used to teach at the school, you are warmly invited. There’s no agenda other than enjoying each other’s company, sharing a few stories and having a great night out.

Many Hands Make Light Work! Join Our St Roch’s Working Bee 🐝

Our school grounds are due for a little love, and we need your help to make them shine! We are hosting a school Working Bee and would love for our wonderful community to come together to help with some gardening, weeding, general tidying, and a bit of a clean-up.

Essentially, this Working Bee is the Prep and Year 5&6 Working Bee, however, our Year 3&4 Families are warmly invited as we missed theirs in Term 1. This Working Bee is open to ALL! We will be wrapping up the hard work with a community sausage sizzle to say a huge thank you!

Please bring gardening gloves if you have them.

This is a fantastic opportunity to get outdoors, connect with other families, and show our school some pride. All are welcome! Bring the children, siblings, grandparents, and anyone else who wants to lend a hand.

As we cross the midpoint of the academic year, the release of Semester 1 reports offers a valuable moment to reflect on your child’s achievements and areas for growth. Our Semester 1 reports will be sent home to families on Monday 15 June at 4.00pm.

Please read today's a notice from nForma to book in for our upcoming Parent/Teacher/Student  Conferences. These meetings are a wonderful opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and achievements and collaborate on ways to support their learning moving forward.

Please note that students are expected to attend the final moments of the conference to share their personal goals for Semester 2. This ensures they are an active part of the conversation and deeply invested in their own learning journey. Students can wait in the allocated seats whilst their parents begin the interview with the Classroom Teachers in the Hall.
