SUSTAINABILITY WITH MISS OLIVER

Thank You to Landcare for Supporting Our Native Garden Sanctuary

With our garden now complete, we would like to sincerely thank Landcare for their generous grant supporting the creation of our new Native Garden Sanctuary at school, located out the front of the Lacey centre.

This exciting project has provided our students with valuable hands-on learning experiences, allowing them to actively engage in creating and caring for a space that supports local plant and animal life.

Through planting native species, learning about habitats, and understanding sustainable environmental practices, students have gained a deeper appreciation of the important role they can play in protecting and improving our environment.

The Native Garden Sanctuary has already become a meaningful learning space where students can connect with nature while developing knowledge and skills that encourage environmental responsibility and stewardship for the future.

Importantly, this is an ongoing initiative, with students continuing to maintain, develop, and improve the space over time.

Their continued involvement ensures the sanctuary will keep growing as a valuable habitat and learning environment for years to come.

We are incredibly grateful to Landcare for helping make this project possible and for supporting opportunities that inspire young people to care for the natural world around them.

STEM WITH MISS LOCKWOOD

Last week we had Carolyn, Poppy and Hee Young from Snowy Hydro STEM Academy to deliver a Squishy Circuit STEM workshop to all classes.

The STEM Academy team highlighted the importance of circuits and electricity in our everyday lives.

Students were challenged with using their problem-solving skills to create a complete circuit using wires, LEDs, playdough and a battery.

Students got incredibly creative with their designs and we had playdough creations ranging from snails to tractors to chickens that were all able to light up at least one LED in a complete circuit.
