Term 2 is set to be another exciting term, filled with meaningful learning experiences, and a busy and rewarding time for all students in the Junior School.
Throughout the term, students will take part in a variety of incursions and excursions designed to enhance and extend their learning beyond the classroom. This last week, our Prep to Year 4 students participated in Primary Play sessions delivered by AFL Victoria coaches during their PE classes. These sessions offered a fun introduction to Auskick and encouraged students to become involved in community sport. These incursion and excursion opportunities support learning by providing rich, authentic experiences that help students develop deeper understanding.
A highlight of the term is the return of the much-loved Encore House Event. This special occasion brings all Junior School students together to perform in their Houses, creating a joyful celebration of creativity, collaboration, and school spirit. We will hold two performances to ensure all families have the opportunity to attend.
We are very proud of the many talented students who featured in the ‘Come Together’ concert this week at the Clocktower Centre in Moonee Ponds. They demonstrated excellence and performed with great joy and enthusiasm.
Later in the term, we look forward to ‘Celebration of Learning,’ where students will reflect on their challenges, share their successes, and showcase their growth with parents and others. This important event is a key part of the reporting process and a wonderful way to celebrate each student’s journey this term.
Last week we acknowledged ANZAC Day. Students respectfully observed a minute of silence as they recognised the sacrifices made by so many men and women who served on the frontline. Their understanding was strengthened through their learning about the significance of this commemoration. Selected students from Prep-Year 3 gathered around the flagpole as the Last Post was played and a wreath was laid.
A reminder that Full Winter Uniform must be worn throughout Term 2. This includes a jumper, tunic, skirt, shorts or trousers, along with a winter shirt, tie, and optional vest. There are both long- and short-sleeved shirt options; however, students wearing the short-sleeved option must wear the winter version with a collar suitable for a tie. Shirts are expected to be tucked in at all times. The College Blazer must be worn to and from school each day during the term with the Winter Uniform.
We look forward to the remainder of the term, which promises to be busy and filled with rewarding experiences and continued student growth across many areas. As the term progresses, we encourage all students to remain engaged in their learning, take on new challenges and continue to demonstrate our school values in all that they do. Strong partnerships between school and home play an important role in supporting each child’s success, and we thank families for their ongoing support throughout the term. We are confident that Term 2 will continue to provide many opportunities for students to learn, grow, and thrive both academically and socially.

It has been a busy and productive start to the year in Year 4. As we began Term 2 students have continued to quickly settle into new routines and embraced the expectations of their learning environment.
Throughout their first term, students participated in a range of meaningful experiences, including meeting their buddies, taking part in the Schools Alive Tours and attending a Mandarin excursion. These opportunities have not only enriched their learning but have also encouraged students to demonstrate key learning dispositions such as curiosity, risk-taking, and collaboration.
A highlight of the term has been the Buddy Program. The main aim of this initiative is to build strong, supportive relationships between Prep and Year 4 students, assisting Prep students to transition smoothly into full-time schooling during their first year. The program involves older students engaging in positive, supportive interactions with their younger buddies, both in structured and unstructured settings.
Another key event was the Schools Alive Tour, which ran smoothly despite wet weather conditions. Year 4 students represented the school with pride and confidently shared their knowledge about the school, and their umbrellas, with prospective families.
Overall, it has been a great start to the year, students already showing growth not only in their academic learning but also in their personal and social development.

Last week, our Prep to Year 4 students enjoyed an exciting opportunity to take part in Primary Play sessions led by AFL Victoria coaches during their Physical Education classes.
These engaging sessions focused on developing fundamental movement skills, aligning with the Australian Curriculum: Health and Physical Education, and encouraging active and healthy lifestyles. Students also had the chance to learn more about Auskick and how they can get involved in community sport.
It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces as students built confidence, learnt new skills, and stayed active.
