Moments of Felicity
It was a genuine joy to welcome our staff, students, and families back for Term 2. The campus quickly returned to life, filled with conversation, laughter, and that unmistakable sense of shared purpose that defines our community.
Over those first few days, I found myself asking students a simple question: what was one moment of felicity you experienced over the break? Their answers were as varied as they were heartfelt. Many students spoke of celebrating Easter, enjoying far too much chocolate, shopping trips, bush walks, and exploring the beauty of regional South Australia. Each response painted a small but meaningful picture of rest and renewal.
Yet, overwhelmingly, the most common answer was time spent with family, both immediate and extended. This struck me deeply. In a world where young people are often criticised for being consumed by trends, devices, and the pull of constant connectivity, our students reminded me of something far more enduring. They value relationships. They cherish belonging. They recognise, perhaps more than we give them credit for, that joy is often found in the simplest of shared moments.
This speaks volumes about the character of our students. It reflects a groundedness and a set of values that we, as a College community, seek to nurture and uphold each day.
As the term unfolds, my hope is that moments of felicity, however small, continue to shape and sustain us all.
Happy Term 2!
