A Big Thank You Scotsburn!!!
Phew! We come to the end of another busy term full of learning, fun and excitement. From the Scotsburn staff we want to say a massive thank you to each and every one of our wonderful students, for making each day a joy to be at school. We also must give a huge thanks to our parent community, who continue to provide us with unwavering support and assistance. To make Scotsburn the place it is, it takes a collaborative team approach, and we are so appreciative of all that everyone does.
Have an amazing break with friends and family and stay safe.
Victorian State School Spectacular
A HUGE congratulations to Bethany, Kahlan, Maggie, Ava, Henry, Josh, Asher and Mia for their amazing efforts over the massive three days of VSSS production week. All of our Scotsburn students were a joy to work with and were an absolute credit to themselves, their families and our school 🙂 Despite having two 12 hour days on Thursday/Friday and then an 18 hour day on the Saturday, our students remained full of energy and joy until the very end. Henry’s repeated comments that Saturday was “the best day of his life” was the highlight of my three days, along with getting to share the experience with Jarrod M. A big thanks to Jarrod, Mrs. Noyce and Mrs. Phillips for all of their help backstage- and also a MASSIVE thanks to all of the wonderful families whose support and early morning/late night taxi services made this all possible for the students 🙂
Scotsburn Celebration of Learning - Wednesday 13th September
This Wednesday (13th September), Scotsburn will host our Term 3 Celebration of Learning. This will take place at Scotsburn between 5pm and 7pm. The purpose of this evening is to provide students with the opportunity to reflect on their goals and learning, celebrating their amazing learning achievements with their parents and carers. It also provides a wonderful opportunity for our parents and carers to get a first hand insight into what their child is getting up to in all areas of their schooling.
Over the night, students and parents will be able to walk in and out of all learning spaces, which will be showcasing lots of different learning that has taken place this term/year. There will also be the opportunity for parents, guardians and students to participate in some interactive activities.
The campus will be running a BBQ on the night, $2 per sausage. Make sure to come and grab a snag or two!
We would love all families and students to attend, we can’t wait to see you there!
Scotsburn Assembly - Thursday 14th September
This Thursday, we will hold a Scotsburn end of term assembly celebration. This will be held in the shed at 9:10am, with lots of awards, prizes, celebrations and hopefully a couple of performances!
We would love to see everyone there, to round out what has been another incredible term at Scotsburn! The old building will be open after assembly for a bite to each, a warm drink and a catch up.
Whole School Assembly - Friday 15th September
This Friday 15th September (last day of term), the Scotsburn Campus will be joining the Buninyong Campus students and staff for an end of term whole school assembly at Buninyong. This means that we will start the day at the Buninyong Campus, meeting in the courtyard at 8.45am. We will then bus back up to Scotsburn at 11am to finish the day as per normal routine. A reminder that school will conclude at 2.30pm for the end of term.
On this day, students are also invited to come dressed in their favourite team colours. Usually students are asked to bring a gold coin donation on casual dress days to support a good cause.
On footy/sports colours day, we encourage students to collect as many 5c coins as they can, as 5c coins have become synonymous with Mphatso. This is how much it costs to provide a bowl of porridge to a student each day at school. For many of the children, this is the only food they will have for the day.

Parent Volunteering and Assistance
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered throughout this term. We have truly appreciated it and it has been brilliant to continue to foster the community involvement in our programs and learning., Below are our helpers for this week.
We will aim to get a roster for next term out in Week 1 of Term 4.

Enrolments for 2024

We are excited that in line with the current Department of Education guidelines we are able to provide our Pre-Schooler Program during the fourth term as part of our enrollment process. Once you have returned your enrolment form, you will be sent further information to book your child into the Pre-Schooler Program. Please see Ana if you require further information.
Holiday Animal Care
With the holidays fast approaching, we would like to put out the invitation to any families who would be interested in taking home Pip the lizard for the break, as well as assist with the feeding of our chickens and collection of eggs. If you think your family may be able to assist with either of these tasks over the break, please pop in and see Jarrod this week.
SC1 Vintage Car Visit and Community Walk
Students had a wonderful morning last Wednesday walking around the township of Buninyong. Students discussed similarities and differences between some of the old buildings and new buildings and how things have changed over time within their local community. One of the highlights was comparing the old bank door to the new automatic one!
Students also loved the vintage car visit. Students learnt about some of the different models and what year they were from and were even lucky enough to sit in the cars and honk the horns!
SC1 Learning Snapshot
This term has certainly flown by and we have so much to be thankful for and celebrate. SC1 students have continued their learning journey throughout the term with such a positive outlook and happy vibe!
Throughout the week in Reading, we have continued to look at synthesising and connecting old information with new learning. Students have really tuned into this and have shown great improvement in reading not only for enjoyment but also that we read to gain information. In Writing, our persuasive letter-writing journey has continued. We look forward to sharing these wonderful, funny, and well-written letters with you all at the Celebration of Learning. In Maths, we have explored calendars, seasons, months, and time. We hope some of our new learning is being transferred into context at home and students are sharing with you lots of things we have been learning about at school.
We have had a big focus as part of our Respectful Relationship Lessons on ‘I can help my friends’ and ‘How do I ask for help?’. Students have really built up their strategies and confidence in this area and it has been wonderful to see them using the strategies in class and in the yard. We had the opportunity during our School Wide Positive Behaviour lesson to work with some of the students in SC3 to create posters based around the lesson ‘We think about how others feel before we speak’. You will see some of these masterpieces around the school.
We hope everyone has a happy, safe, and restful break. We look forward to seeing everyone back in Term 4 for a busy and fun term.
Thanks as always for your support and kindness.
Ana and Kirsty
SC2 Learning Snapshot
SC2 have been working very hard in preparation for their Celebration of Learning. We look forward to seeing you and sharing these wonderful achievements.
This week students have been measuring mass using different instruments and they have thoroughly enjoyed doing this. Tomorrow we will move onto measuring the capacity of containers, the weather will be perfect for some outdoor lessons.
Congratulations to Amity on her achievements at Division Athletics. What a superstar!
Have a great break,
Karly
SC3 Learning Snapshot
We are at the business end of the term in SC3 and we have lots to share and celebrate. Firstly, students have done a magnificent job editing and publishing their three writing pieces for the term - free write narrative, crime scene information report and persuasive “should we eat bugs” piece. We have a lovely book display ready for the Celebration of Learning.
Students have also spent the last few days presenting their Shark Tank projects. This has been a lot of fun, with students learning lots of entrepreneurial, persuasive and maths skills along the way.
In Maths, we are finishing off our decimals unit, and students have continued to use their proficiency scales to set specific learning goals and track their progress. Well done!
Thanks to everyone for organising camp payments and consent on Compass. Your child should have taken home the camp booklet, including what to bring and an itinerary. We will go through final details in the first week back after the holidays, ready for camp in week two.
Thanks again for a brilliant term and have a super break.
Jarrod
Scotsburn Intercampus Travel At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day. We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements. If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher. |
