Principal's Report

Final Week of Term

All terms seem to fly by and this one has been no exception.  On reflection, there has been plenty to celebrate throughout term 3, including:

  • Quite a few students participated in the Young Authors Program and South Street Debating.
  • Preparations for another entry into Energy Breakthrough are well underway.
  • The disco and our 150 celebrations were both huge events.
  • Our preps loved their 100 days of school event and the 3-4s had a great camp.
  • Our kinder transition program has commenced with some kinder visits that went very well.
  • The local Playgroup has relocated to our site, and this is working really well.
  • There have been the usual array of inter-school sporting events and excursions/incursions.
  • As per usual, Book Week generated lots of interest in books and reading across the school.
  • Excitement is building around the Colour Run fundraiser, which is happening next term.
  • Our Victorian State School Spectacular team rehearsed all term and then danced their little hearts out on Saturday at John Cain Arena.

And we finish the term with the Celebration of Learning evening and Sports Colours Day.  Both of these events are enjoyed by everyone and help us finish off the term in style.  Thanks to everyone for any role you played in supporting any of the above, either as a helper or as a parent supporting your child.

We wish all of our families a safe and relaxing holiday break and we look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday, October 2nd for an action-packed final term of 2023.

A few things we have to look forward to include Japanese Day, 5-6 Melbourne Camp, our Pre-Schooler Program, the Colour Run, continuation of the Young Authors Program, Energy Breakthrough, the swimming program, inter-school cricket, Grandparents & Special Friends Day, the Prep Big Breakfast, Orientation Day and Grade 6 Graduation.  A calendar of events for term 4 is attached below.

VICTORIAN STATE SCHOOL SPECTACULAR (VSSS)

On Saturday my wife and I had the pleasure of attending the afternoon VSSS performance. The show was something to behold and was thoroughly entertaining for anyone in the audience.  Our kids joined hundreds of others as part of the ‘mass dance team’, but in addition there was:

  • A choir consisting of hundreds of students (a whole wing of John Cain arena).
  • An amazing orchestra/band of year 11 and 12 students.
  • Principal singers and dancers that were as good as you’ll see.

Liz Morgan and the kids did an amazing job.  What an opportunity for the kids!  They will all remember the experience and any child dreaming of being on the big stage would have left the experience feeling inspired.

PREP 2024 ENROLMENTS

If you have a child to enrol for Prep in 2023 and haven’t submitted an enrolment, please do so this week as workforce planning for 2024 is happening in earnest.

All parents with a prep enrolment submitted for 2024 should have received an email with an overview of transition activities scheduled for later in the year.  This includes the Pre-Schooler Program, which runs in weeks 1-4 of term 4.  If you have yet to book your child in for the Pre-Schooler Program, please get that done a.s.a.p.
