Teaching and Learning Hub
Welcome to the 2024 school year!
Dear parents and carers,
We have had a fantastic start to the new school year with students and teachers excited to begin new classes and new learning. This has, in part, been fuelled by the ever-growing phenomenal success our senior students have been experiencing in their VCE, VCE VM and VPC courses.
Students hit the ground running after beginning their 2024 subjects during our Commencement period at the end of last year and were able to dive straight back into that learning as well as further explore their learning connected to their holiday homework.
This year our Curriculum & Pedagogy Team is excited to again engage in the continuous improvement of the quality of our teaching and learning programmes. Our overarching goal is to always provide the best possible educational experiences for all of our students. This year we are continuing with our Education Sub-Committee. The purpose of this Sub-Committee is to seek regular feedback, ideas, and suggestions from interested parents and carers about our Educational Programmes here at the college. This includes providing feedback about the future direction of the college, curriculum, assessment and reporting practices, co-curricular opportunities for students such as Clubs, Camps, Incursions and Excursions. Our college vision states that:
‘At Hampton Park Secondary College, we are rich in diversity, and through empowering and engaging students, we remain wholehearted in our pursuit of excellence’,
We are very keen to hear ideas for improvement that are in line with this vision.
It is well known that when school staff, and parents/carers work closely together, student wellbeing and academic outcomes improve. Our Sub-Committee continues to help strengthen our partnership with parents and carers as we continue to improve the educational opportunities and achievements for all students.
We are seeking expressions of interest from parents, carers, and community representatives who would like to become active members of the Education Sub-Committee for 2024. The committee will be led by Assistant Principal, Paul Broecker, members of the Curriculum and Pedagogy Team, and Student Leaders. The commitment required for members will be one meeting per calendar month, with a duration of approximately 1 hour, at a time suitable for all members.
If you are interested, please contact the school on 8795 9400 by Friday 23 February.
Sincerely,
Paul Broecker (Assistant Principal for Teaching and Learning) and Mel Larcombe (Leading Teacher for Curriculum and Pedagogy)
