Walton House News

Welcome back!

Dear Parents, Carers, Family and Students,

Welcome to Term 1 2024!

We are very excited for the year ahead and have already witnessed the Walton students doing some amazing things!

We have been inundated with values nominations already, with students trying their best in classes and being supportive peers to the younger students.

This term we welcome the new year 7s to the college! They have settled in so well and we saw a lot of success during the year 7 program that ran last week.

On Monday 12th of February, we have Swimming Sports! This is a whole school event, and we encourage all students to participate in the swimming events. This is a bit of fun and a great way to show your house spirit! So please come along and wear YELLOW. There are house points on the line 😊

Walton Team Changes

In 2024 we welcome Audry Treadwell as our wonderful Walton house office assistant. Here is a profile on Audrey so you can get to know her a little better, please come in and say hi if you haven’t already!

Name: Audry Treadwell

Favourite Subject at school: Textiles

Favourite Food: Mexican or chargrilled steak with chips and gravy

Favourite Style of Music: All except Country

Hobbies: Sewing, hand crafts, reading - Katherine Kerr is my favourite author – I have also just started to learn how to ride a dirt bike

Movies you would recommend: I’m a book nerd so love the classics like Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Hunger Games … also love action movies like Fast and Furious and John Wick

Quote you live by: Sometimes you need to be an arrow, you need to pull back to move forward.

Who do you look up to and why? I don’t have any one person, but I find that people who overcome tragedy and trauma, who can still be kind and gentle without bitterness or resentment are the ones I find most inspiring.

Why did you want to work in a school? I really enjoy being a helpful person, which led me to become a Classroom Support Aide. I wanted to keep supporting students in a different way through this role. I also wanted to come to HPSC to give back to the community.

What is a piece of advice you would give to students? Keep a positive open mindset, and learning doesn’t stop when you finish school. Embrace everything life has to offer and apply yourself to the wonderment around you. Patience and kindness cost nothing but spreads happiness to everyone around you.

We also have the fantastic Mr Marriott back in Walton, he is supporting year 10-12 students as an SLL.

Walton Student Leaders

Our Walton College Captain is Bryony Rarete

And our House Captain is Alex Liong

If you have any questions, concerns ideas, please approach our leaders 😊

A reminder to please ensure all students are following the correct school uniform. Ensure you are either in the academic uniform with black lace up shoes, or the sports uniform with runners, not a mixture of the two.

We need students to be coming to school on time, every time.

Please keep up the great work, this has been a fantastic start to the year, and we’re extremely excited for 2024!

Thank you,

Gabi Phelan and the Walton Team
