A Standing Ovation!

Dino Azzollini (back), Grace, Jessica and Stacey Gabriel (North-East Area Regional Director), with Timothy Cottrell, Principal.

As teachers, we are often in awe of our students that  uplift us with astounding levels of achievement. These experiences help us to understand why we love the  work we do.  A little while ago over three hundred school principals from across the whole North East Area of Victoria had the amazing experience of having the Lalor North Secondary College VET/VCE Vocal Group open the NEMA conference with three of their songs….it was one of those striking moments for these hundreds of school leaders…to witness how our powerful public education system produces the best of the best, and to know that their students, too, can rise to these levels. A standing ovation for our young people at the finale was led by our Deputy Secretary  of the Department of Education and Training, Dr David Howes. David is one of the most senior administrators in the Department. This was a moment of enormous pride for our College, and for public education as a whole. A hearty congratulations to our music team. You are fabulous for the skills you have developed in our wonderful young people.

Warm regards,

Timothy Cottrell

Many months, hours and minutes of rehearsal and practice go into these amazing performances. Every warm up, cord or harmony is isolated and then perfected allowing the vocalists to shine.
