Enrichment Coaching

We began the term by being involved in some assessment so that I could develop some learning goals and create some plans to best support the students in my groups. I am so impressed with the dedication and growth mindset shown by these students. They really know how to put in a great effort!

The following weeks we have been looking closely at the link between multiplication and division. We have used many forms of hands on objects so that we could gain a good understanding of what it means to multiply and divide numbers.

One of the wonderful things I have seen is the opportunity these students have had to experience trial and error. They have used their time to try new things and make changes when they note their own errors in their work. What amazing Mathematicians!

Our junior students were struggling with managing their emotions when it came to new topics and challenging questions. We discussed and created our own ‘Learning Pits’ where we all honestly shared how it felt when we learnt something new, and how we felt once we had mastered it. It was so great to be able to acknowledge how normal these feelings are, that we all experience things in different ways and that we are on this journey together.

I am so looking forward to supporting these students as they continue to enter ‘The Learning Pit’ with me many times this term.
