Welcome back to Term 4! It is hard to believe we're already in week 3! Students have settled back in well and we have jumped straight back into learning.
Term 4 is a great chance to look over our year to date results and use this to help students 'fill in the gaps' to ensure they are prepared for the year of school ahead.
Our reading sessions have been focused on further developing our inferencing skills. Students have been using prior knowledge and clues from the text or illustrations to help them make an inference about how a character might be thinking or feeling.
We have started the term with a new narrative writing piece, with students working to ensure they are using imagery, sensory details and interesting words to build a picture in the mind of their reader.
In Maths, students have been working extremely hard to master vertical multiplication with increasingly bigger numbers and decimal places.
In Civics and Citizenship students have been learning about the different types of leadership and decision making that happens in communities. In Science, students have been learning about different states of matter.
Last week we were lucky enough to have a visit from Numeracy expert Michael Ymer. Michael worked closely with the kids, teaching them some really fun hands on maths games and activities. Students were challenged to extend their skills over a variety of different maths concepts like addition, multiplication, data collection and measurement.
Our students enjoyed a visit from St John's ambulance, where they learned the DRSABC acronym and had the opportunity to role play different scenarios when someone might require first aid.
