Principal's Desk

From Mr Mati Azadzoi

Dear Parent/Guardian/Carer/Staff and Students,

Welcome back to another great Term. We have made a brilliant start across all areas of the school!!

If you have not yet downloaded or checked the Key dates for Term 4, please do so asap via Compass or by viewing the 'Term 4' Events tab here.

We welcomed our 2024 Prep students last week. It was lovely to see all of our new students join and engage in fun and engaging activities. The Prep transition sessions will continue over the next few Tuesdays this Term. Please see the 'Step into Prep' handout for more details. Thanks to Ms Augustus and Ms Morris for making the parents and students feel so welcomed.

This Term we have been busy trying to finalise our Recruitment and Staffing for 2024. We would like to provide students a great transition process before the end of the year. We are hoping our confirmed staffing can be announced before the start of the 2024 year. More information to come towards the end of the year.

Our staff have immersed themselves in Numeracy Professional Development last Term and this Term. As we have a big focus as a school on improving Numeracy we have engaged with the services of Michael Ymer (an experienced Numeracy Consultant) to up-skill and lead us in effective numeracy lessons. Thank you to all staff for enthusiastically participating in these sessions and for everyone's strong willingness to apply some new architecture to your own classes.

Our students engaged in their first First-Aid lesson led by St John of God last week. This involved learning about emergency management practices. It was a terrific experience for all!! Thank you to St John of God for providing this learning for our students.

Ever year the Department requires schools to complete a 'Staff Opinion Survey' based on perceptions relating to 'academic emphasis, collective efficacy, staff trust in colleges and teacher collaboration' i.e. School Climate. We are proud to say that our school climate is exceptionally high, exceeding similar schools and the state. Please see below our results:

Post-testing to measure student growth

As part of our commitment to measuring student academic growth all students this Term will be post-tested using PAT assessment and Essential Assessment. Staff will use this information to plan for 2024 and address key knowledge/key skills for curriculum mapping. We are very excited to share with students their growth from the beginning of the year compared to the end.
