Year 1 & 2 Learning Detective of the week: Millah for his positive outlook to learning and making a great start to term 4.
Year 3 & 4: Nate for following instructions and rules in class.
Year 5 & 6: Rhys, for displaying initiative by jumping in and undertaking extra jobs when others are away.
Lots of reading certificates were awarded this week, due to this being our first assembly for the term. Well done to the following who received certificates at assembly this week:

Stomp Dance
Along with St Joseph’s, over the duration of the week, each group of students learnt four dances. Friday’s performance was wonderful. We thank you all the parents who attended and hope they were equally impressed with the performance.
Charlton Art Show
Artworks from our students are on display at the Art and Photography Exhibition.
We will be visiting on Monday.

Foundation during Free Choice Writing
Book Tasting
On Thursday the 5th of October students in Miss D’s Literacy classroom took part in a Book Tasting. Students entered a restaurant-like setting (including vases of flowers, tablecloths and place mats on the tables). Each table was set with a stack of books in the centre. Students took a seat and “sampled” a book from the stack. After checking out the front and back covers, students spent a few minutes browsing through the book to develop their first impressions. They then wrote down their observations. The process was repeated until the students had tasted five books and they then ranked the books in order of their favourites. The students’ favourite books will now be used for their Literature Circle groups.

At the College there are many things we do to support our children with dyslexia to assist them to achieve to their potential. Right from day one, they learn to read using a phonological approach, then we use assistive technologies to help us in later years.
