Dear Parents & Parishioners,

There are only a number of hours to go until the students' performance this year's school concert, Side by Side. This is an evening that will impress everyone who attends, and I’m not just saying that because I’m the Principal. Mr Jon Bode, with the support of the staff, have ensured that the children will deliver in terms of song, dance and acting.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Bode for the enthusiastic way in which he has worked with our students over recent months to prepare them for this night. Just watching the students perform in our hall last Friday morning conveyed the depth of talent and sheer enjoyment that this experience has unearthed.

Today we head to The Madeleine Centre, at Genazzano FCJ College, for a final technical run and dress rehearsal.

Tonight:

We ask that you plan to arrive at Genazzano by 6.15pm. As the performance is scheduled to commence at 7.00pm, we require your children to be in The Madeleine Centre no later than 6.30pm. As the car park will be busy at this time, you may even consider arriving a little earlier to ensure that your performing stars are calm on arrival. Please leave the children at the entrance to the theatre with either Mrs Josephine Harrison, Mrs Themi Manou, Mrs Penny Hansen or myself. We will direct the children backstage.
A simple program has been prepared and will be distributed as families take their seats. We have printed sufficient copies to allocate one program per family.

The performance does not have an intermission, however, it will conclude at approximately 8.10pm. As the curtain draws for the final time, instructions will be provided for collecting your children.

Parking at Genazzano

Below, you will find a map of the car parks and the school grounds. The only entrance that will be open will be off Cotham Rd where you will need to enter via Gate 1. Gate 2 is the exit and Gate 3 will be closed. You can park in the main car park entering off Cotham Rd or any of the other smaller car parks spilling off the main car park. On the map you will also notice a car park parallel to Mont Victor Rd. This car park may also be used, however, it can only be accessed initially via Gate 1.

Once you have parked, please escort your children up the pathway leading towards Circular Drive. From there you will be able to enter The Madeleine Centre.

Tomorrow is 'Footy Colours Day' and OHR's 'Walk for Tiwi'

Don't forget to dress up your children in their favourite team colours tomorrow. The footy code doesn't matter. They are in for a day of fun as we celebrate the footy finals. Mrs Gorgeous Golds has a bit more to say about the day in her PE News page.

The day will begin with a whole school mass to conclude the term, which parents are welcome to attend. Shortly afterwards the students and staff will embark on our Walk for Tiwi to raise funds that will go towards the restoration of St Therese's Catholic Church on Bathurst Island, which is part of the Tiwi Islands. Other Catholic schools in our zone are also embarking on the same walk in their locations.

Following recess our students will be engaged in a range of footy activities organised by Mrs Golds and the House Captains.

PFA Sausage Sizzle Tomorrow

To conclude the term, the PFA will hold a sausage sizzle for the students tomorrow. The cost for a sausage in bread is a gold coin donation.

Remember, the students will be dismissed at 1.00pm.

OHR Colour Run

OHR will be having its second Colour Run for students on Friday 3 November. This will be a super-exciting day for our students! We will be designing a course similar to last year's circuit, where we will also require plenty of parent helpers All money generated by the event will go directly to the PFA which, in turn, will come back to the school in various ways to benefit our students.

Many thanks to Linnea Reddie and Ange Southwood who will be assisting with our school's participation. On Monday each student would have recieved a letter from Linnea and Ange with details about the Colour Run, which included instructions for creating a profile page. Students were also provided with a Sponsorship Booklet.

Summer Uniform & Hats

As we are a SunSmart School, all students will be required to wear their hats to school from the first day of Term 4. Students have the option of wearing either their summer or winter uniform for the first two weeks of the term, but not a combination of the two. We also ask that the students wear black leather school shoes on the days they are not wearing their sports uniform.

Parish Notice: 'Becoming a Catholic'

Are you interested in becoming a Catholic or completing your initiation into the Catholic Church? Would you like to find out more about the Catholic faith and its practices? There are many reasons why people might answer yes to these questions. There are many reasons that people – young and old – are exploring the Catholic Church and its faith. Our parishes welcome those who are on this journey. We would love to hear from you if you have any interest in pursuing your inquiry. We are planning a number of sessions to welcome and plan a way forward for any interested person. Our four sessions are being held on 4 October, 18 October, 1 November and 15 November at 7.00 pm in the Gathering Space at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Deepdene.
