Principal's message
St. Bernard's turns 60!!!
Dear Parents, Guardians and Friends
St. Bernard's School opened in 1963 to provide a Catholic education for the children on the West side of Wangaratta.
Under the guidance of The Brigidine Order, Sister Mary Baptist Bracken, the first Principal together with two lay teachers, started the first classes in the original school in what today is the grade five and six area.
We will celebrate our 60th year with a social gathering for our parents at the opening of the Art Show on the Friday evening of Friday 17th November.
On the 28th of November we celebrate with a liturgy at 12 noon followed by a special lunch, unveiling of the mural painted by the grade 5/6 classes and an afternoon of fun activities for the children.
Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Our children have started their preparation for the sacrament of Reconciliation.
The children will meet with myself each Monday afternoon for the next four weeks and will make their First Reconciliation in our school chapel on the evening of November 2nd at 6.00 pm.
If your child is in grade three and you would like them to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, please let their child's teacher know.
School Hats
We remind parents that children are required to wear their school hats when outdoors at school. Our children play in the amphitheater area if they do not have their hats.
Swimming Program
Our swimming program for all classes runs during term four.
You will have received notification of dates and permission requirements for the children from the classroom teachers.
Pupil free days in term four are :
Monday 16th October - NUMERACY PROFESSIONAL LEARNING DAY
Monday, November 27 - REPORT WRITING DAY
Tuesday, December 5 - 2024 PLANNING DAY
Thank you.
Have a great week, everyone!
