Art
Students have been enjoying studying the works of our feature artist Henri Rousseau, a self-taught French artist. Rousseau's artwork features jungle scenes with animals and exotic plants. Students are inspired by Rousseau's art to create jungle-like scenes in their artworks.
Prep children have looked at tigers and jungle plants to create their Rousseau inspired art. They explored both painting and collage techniques. The grade 1/2 children have used water colours and mixed media for their artworks. Grade 3/4 students are thoroughly enjoying creating their shoe box jungle dioramas. Students are using mixed papers and oil pastels to create tropical plants and animals. Grade 5/6 students have almost finished painting on stretched canvases using acrylic paints and other materials.
I am also very excited to have the opportunity to bring all our 3/4 students to TarraWarra Museum of Art to view the current exhibition of art and furniture design. Students will engage in art discussions and create artworks based on the artworks viewed. We will also stop at the Chocolaterie for lunch and a treat. The excursion is generously paid for but you will need to provide some money for the chocolate treat. Please check the compass post and sign the excursion permission form.
