Exciting Times in 1/2N: Exploring Shapes, Reflecting on Faith, and Demonstrating Respect!
It's been an eventful time in 1/2N, with our young learners eagerly diving into a new and fascinating mathematics topic: 2D shapes! Alongside this, we've been exploring important themes of faith and continuing to foster a culture of respect within our classroom.
Our classroom has transformed into a hub of geometric exploration as we introduce our students to the world of 2D shapes. From identifying basic shapes like circles, squares, and triangles to exploring the more complex concepts of angles and properties of shapes, our students are actively engaging with hands-on activities and games to deepen their understanding. We encourage you to reinforce these concepts at home by spotting shapes in everyday objects and discussing their attributes with your child.
In addition to our mathematics adventures, we have been delving into Ed in Faith, specifically focusing on the Examen—a method of prayerful reflection. Through stories, discussions, and age-appropriate exercises, our students are learning to appreciate the importance of reflection and gratitude in their daily lives. We are thrilled to witness their growing awareness of faith-based practices and values.
We have continued to explore our Inquiry topic of Sustainability. The students participated in a group experiment with 1/2TV. We made predictions about what would happen to different types of waste over time, by burying waste into dirt. Everyone is highly anticipating the results.
Our commitment to nurturing a respectful classroom environment remains a top priority. I am proud of our students respectful behaviour and interactions, exemplified through our HERO award system. This initiative recognises students who consistently demonstrate respect for themselves, their peers, teachers, and the school community. We encourage you to continue reinforcing these positive behaviours at home, helping to instill lifelong values of kindness and consideration. There have now been many students who have filled their HERO award chart, and contributed to their house team HERO tally.
Well done 1/2N on your terrific progress.
