Prep

Thank you to the families who attended the Mother's Day mass this morning. The Preps thoroughly enjoyed performing the Lion's Roar song. Well done Preps!

Literacy

Last week, the Preps enjoyed the story "Wombat Stew" and engaged in related activities. They sorted and discussed items based on whether they were from nature or man-made. During a nature hunt, they gathered ingredients for their version of Prep Wombat Stew and acted out scenes from the story. They mimicked the movements of their chosen animals and sang the Wombat song with enthusiasm. Additionally, they learned new vocabulary, such as "billabong" and "creepy crawlies." It was a fun experience!

The Preps are excitedly learning to write simple words using the letters and sounds they've been taught. They are identifying the first and last sounds in words, counting sounds in simple words, and learning new letters and sounds. It's an exciting time of learning and discovery in the classroom!

Maths

In Maths, the Preps used concrete materials, ten frames, and storyboards to combine two quantities and find the whole number. These are the building blocks of early additive thinking in Maths. They have been partioning whole numbers into different parts for example 2+2+1=5

Inquiry

The Preps talked about how their bodies change as they grow. They also paired various foods with different parts of the body and talked about how these foods help keep them strong and healthy.
