Dear Parents and Friends of St Brigid’s,
Welcome back - I hope you all had a wonderful Easter and celebrated with family and friends. I hope the rest of the holiday break was full of fun, adventures and some quiet time. It was lovely to hear from the children the exciting things they did over the holidays whether they went away or stayed home!
It was lovely to open the gates on Monday and see so many children waiting and ready for school with a big smile on their faces! I think the biggest smiles may have been for the new playground.
On Sunday at 1.00pm our Year 4 students are celebrating the Sacrament of Eucharist. This is their third sacrament, the first being Baptism and the second Reconciliation. We wish all the very best to our children who are participating in this Sacrament - I am looking forward to helping them celebrate this wonderful Sacrament on Sunday.
Now that the weather is starting to cool down, we will begin to wear winter uniform. We will have a two week period to transition from summer to winter, but we ask that you not mix the summer and winter uniforms. All students should be in their winter uniform by Monday 29th of April.
Please note girls winter tunics and skirts are not available at PSW. They can be ordered online via CDF online. See Tracey regarding sizes. We are still selling a few other items via CDFpay - winter beanies, school hats, St Brigid's sports socks and girls winter tunics and skirts. Our winter beanies are great for the colder months and cost $15.00. Now that we have a St Brigid's beanie, no other beanies can be worn at school.
Just a reminder that our uniform shop is now at PWS - 1 Age Street, Cheltenham.
BOYS:
If your child does not like to wear pants, we do allow them to wear shorts all year round.
GIRLS:
HAIR: All hair below the collar must be tied back. This is for both boys and girls. This is also part of our uniform policy.
Thank you for your support in this matter. Wearing our uniform correctly demonstrates to us that we are proud members of the St Brigid’s community.
What an exciting start to the term with the new playground up and running for all to play with. With the swimming lessons it has been lovely for the children to have special times to play on the playground with their class levels. The “Ninja Warrior Wall” is a big hit!
Tim Richardson is coming to officially open our playground on Friday 3rd May at 9am. Parents are most welcome to join us for this opening.
Anzac Day is next Thursday. This is to remember our Anzacs who fought for our country to enable us to be safe and at peace with the rest of the world. All parents and students are more than welcome to attend with us. We will meet at Mentone Park at 8.30am to begin the walk to the Mentone RSL.
Our Liturgy and Community Leaders will lead the school in a beautiful Anzac Day Liturgy next Wednesday afternoon at 3.00pm - all parents welcome.
Student Led Conferences are usually at the end of Term 2, but in consultation with our Consultative Team we have decided to push them back to the second week of Term 3. This will enable parents to have a copy of their child/ren’s report which will help with the discussion.
What a great start to the term with swimming lessons for our Foundation to Year 4 students. I have to say how proud I am of all our students. They are doing so well with their lessons and what I enjoy seeing the most is how they are taking turns, encouraging each other and enjoying the experience. Well done to our students!
Our Year 5/6 students participated in an incursion about the Government on Wednesday. The children created a government party and then participated in how laws are made.
This term each level will put in an article about what is happening in the classroom. Thanks to Deb, Arch and 5/6C students for their article on what they were learning at the end of last term. Make sure you take the time to scroll on and read their news on the St Brigid's News and Evets page!
We are excited to announce that our Easter Raffle raised $1,406.00. What an incredible amount! A BIG thank you to our fantastic Foundation parent team who did such a great job organising the Easter Egg Raffle and wrapping all those prizes!!
Thank you also to Lisa Blumeris for collecting and collating the 57 dozen Hot Cross Buns purchased through our Bakers Delight Fundraiser. We raised $342.00 for the school. Another fantastc effort.
