Wellbeing

Within the SEL (Social, Emotional, Learning) classes this year we have been learning about and acknowledging a broad range of feelings and behaviours that can be triggered by everyday and not so everyday experiences. Students from F – 6 are developing a range of strategies such as engaging in mindful tasks, using mindful tools, exploring various forms of meditation.  Through discussions, they have been supported and guided in expressing their current feelings and coached in explaining how they got there.

Example: I feel really angry because my brother sat in the front seat or I feel calm because I had a good night's sleep and everything went smoothly this morning.

More recently, there has been a focus being 'Present', both in the mind and body.

What does it mean to be present?

Being present means living in the moment.

It means that yesterday is history, Tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift- that’s why we call it the present!                                                                                                             Rana DiOrio

This week's topic -  Anxiety

“Untreated anxiety disorders in children can lead to more serious issues in adulthood. Parents need to educate themselves so they can identify the symptoms early.”
