Round Square Adventure

Abi Jones

So far in Adventure we have had five meetings during every second Wednesday lunch time. We have a mix of around 15  Year 11 boys and girls who are interested in physical activities and providing fun and new learning experiences for all year groups. Mr Zinga is our teacher leader, however the meetings have been student run by Lilly and Maisy (who have been organising this project). Our meetings usually involve running through a list of ideas and discussing a plan and the little details for the project (e.g. supervision, money, prizes). We (group leaders) have all been keeping in communication through Snapchat where we have created a group chat and provide updates and share ideas with each other.

The project we organised in Term 1 was an Easter Egg hunt for the Year 7 students during Wellbeing on Monday 25 March. This promoted healthy competition between the Houses and initiative was shown by students to collect as many eggs as possible. We carefully took time to think of a good time, location, activity and prizes for this project and we were all very excited to help lead this activity for the Year 7 students. To advocate for this Easter Egg Hunt, the leaders collaborated to create a poster and we gathered eggs donated by us (leaders) to use. The prize of the Golden Egg will was filled with a voucher for the school canteen encouraging in-school successes and investing back into the school. It was a very successful event, with lots of engagement across the houses and positive feedback. The hunt encouraged communication, critical thinking skills, play and of course adventure, making it appropriate and captivating for the students.

We are very excited for the rest of the year and are already planning for more activities!
