Sport & PE

Mrs McCleary

It’s really starting to get cold in the mornings especially for our early morning FITClub kids. But we are also having really lovely sunny afternoons which makes it difficult to wear the right clothes. Layers work well, and can be easily removed when students get hot. Hats are not compulsory this term but are certainly needed on some occasions.

Term 2 PE Lessons

In our lessons Prep-2 students will be exploring the different kicking skills used for soccer and AFL. They will develop their understanding of basic games emphasising the need for rules and safety. The Yr 3-6 students have been focusing on Fitness ready for District Cross Country and Invasion games ready for the Winter Gala. The students had some Soccer clinics in Term 1 in preparation for this and we will focus on AFL and Netball in lessons.

District Swimming

After competing in the District Swimming, the following students came 1st or 2nd in their events and went through to the Division swimming competition at Ascot Vale;

Andy N for Backstroke

Olivia V for Freestyle

Lenora M for Breaststroke

Claudia G, Sophie G, Olivia and Lenora for Freestyle Relay.

Well done team for representing our school and district and the next level - what a great experience for our young swimmers.

District Cross Country

A selected number of Yr 3-6 students will be competing this Friday at Kevin Barlett Reserve in the District Cross country event. 35 students have been selected and will run in the 2km or 3km race for their age group. If any parents are free to come down and cheer on their children or help out please let me know.

Swimming Lessons

It was great to see and hear all about the swimming program which all the Yr 3-6 were given the opportunity to attend. Swimming is a compulsory part of the primary school curriculum and is essential for child development. It teaches essential skills related to water safety and it also helps our students develop many other skills. Students learn greater independence, ability to self-manage, resilience, organisation and time management skills. Thank you to all the parents who volunteered and came along to lessons to help supervise the students.

Prep-2 students will get their turn in weeks 8 and 9 of Term 4!

FIT Club

Thursdays 7.40am

FIT Club is back this term. Trinity Fit Club is a Free Before School activity open to all Trinity students every Thursday at 7.40am on the Oval or in the MPR if the weather is bad. The children will take part in a range of fun activities to get them moving. Senior students from St Kevin's College will join us most weeks to run some sport or exercises to help get the students ready for learning. Please come along and join us!

Richmond Skippers Netball Club

You have probably noticed a keen group of Netballers practising before school on a Friday morning. This is a local netball team run by local parents Cecelia and Kate. The teams are always looking for new players in Yrs 3-6, so if your daughter is interested please come and get more information from me or email the team; richmondskippers@gmail.com
