Kids Corner

The Kids Corner section of this fortnight’s newsletter features a recount about the Year 5 camp from Emma, Rannuli, Janiru, Krish, Tyler and Linh:

Emma 5A

Year 5 Beechworth camp was very fun, with mouthwatering foods, interesting activities and wonderful facts about Edward Ned Kelly during his time in Beechworth. My favourite activity would be the Morse Code museum where you could find out your name in Morse code. You could interact with different phones and listen to different people’s backstories before the 1900’s. The typewriter was also nice to feel and type and they made the best ASMR sound I have ever heard. The food (from the Old Priory) was really exquisite and delicious. On the last day, we had a chicken wrap which had tomatoes and cucumbers that I disliked. But since the food was actually really healthy and nourishing I tried having tomatoes and cucumbers and it was really good!

Rannuli 5B

I had the best time ever but my favourite was all the shops and managing my own money. I became more organised and independent because I had to pack my luggage.

Janiru 5B

I liked tasting the honey from the bee school and being organised and being in the cabin in general, I grew by becoming more independent while packing up after myself and making my own purchases.

Krish 5B

I think I did really well on camp and I liked to go to the shops to buy my favourite items and study different rocks and do gold panning, I got to grow because usually, I rely on my mum so I got to be independent and got to pack my stuff on my own.

Tyler 5D

At camp it was amazing, we were learning mostly about Ned Kelly.  He died at the age of 25 years old. I scored the Ned Kelly re-enactment task as 11 out of 10 because I played the role of Ned Kelly.

Kairon 5D

The telegraph station featured the history of multi-media through the ages. We tried out the old telephones and transmitters.  I scored this activity as 10 out of 10.  The gold panning was a good experience if only we could keep the gold!

Linh 5E

My favourite activity is the Bee School (a place to teach about bees). We learnt all about bees and how they make honey. My group was Group 4, with Ms. Rich and Daniel. I also enjoy talking to my group mates. The Bee School was my favourite because I love bees and honey, and I really like the flower garden and the honey flavours that the co-workers made! had a mix of feelings during that time, at first I was excited and fascinated when I got to explore a bee’s body; the anatomy of a bee. I was then hungry when we ate the honey, it was delicious.
