“The things of God can wait, we think and we say. And yet he is the most important thing, ultimately the one truly important thing. Why should we not also be moved by curiosity to see more closely and to know what God has said to us? At this hour, let us ask him to touch our hearts with the holy curiosity and the holy joy of the shepherds, and thus let us go over joyfully to Bethlehem, to the Lord who today once more comes to meet us. Amen.”
Pope Benedict XVI, Christmas 2012
End of Year Reflection
As we come to the close of another memorable year at Mount Carmel College, it is a fitting moment to pause and reflect on all we have shared as a community. Throughout the year, our students, staff, and families have contributed to a learning environment grounded in faith, excellence, compassion, and hope. Each success, each challenge overcome, and each milestone reached has been achieved together.
The season of Advent calls us into stillness and anticipation—a time to prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ and to recognise the light that continues to grow in our community. In the busyness of school life, Advent reminds us of the quiet promises of joy, peace, and renewal that are at the heart of our Catholic story. As Christmas approaches, we celebrate these gifts with gratitude: the gift of our students, the dedication of our staff, and the unwavering support of our families.
Christmas is a time of connection and hope, a reminder that even the smallest acts of kindness can bring great light into the world. My wish for each of you is that this Christmas season fills your homes with joy, warmth, and a deep sense of belonging.
As we look ahead to the New Year, we carry forward the optimism that comes with fresh beginnings. May 2026 bring continued growth for our young people, renewed purpose for our staff, and strengthened partnerships with our families.
Thank you for your dedication, trust, and contributions to our College throughout 2025. I hope the holiday break offers you time to rest, recharge, and reconnect with those who matter most.
Wishing you a blessed Christmas, a peaceful Advent, and a joyful start to the New Year.
