Sustainability
There’s lots of exciting learning happening across all year levels as students explore science, sustainability, and how we interact with our world.
Foundation students are learning about weather and clouds, building their understanding of daily weather patterns. In the coming weeks, they’ll be conducting simple weather experiments to observe and record changes.
Year 1 students are diving into Life Below Water, learning about oceans and exploring a variety of aquatic animals and how they survive in water environments.
Year 2 students are learning about ecosystems and how living and non-living things work together. They’ve been busy creating their own terrariums and identifying biotic and abiotic components in ecosystems.
Year 3 students are working in the kitchen garden, learning about planting and seasonal growth. They are choosing crops using a planting calendar and developing an understanding of how food is grown.
Year 4 students are learning about the greenhouse effect and how it impacts Earth’s climate. They’ll be completing hands-on experiments to explore how heat is trapped in the atmosphere.
Year 5 students are studying human ecology, focusing on how communities meet people’s needs and wants and how habitats can be designed to support sustainable living.
Year 6 students are exploring types of resources and learning about responsible production and consumption, examining how choices impact the environment, society, and the economy.
Kitchen Garden
Students have loved getting their hands dirty in the kitchen garden after a long break! We currently have zucchini, pumpkin, and tomatoes growing well.
Garden Club will be running on Thursdays, where students will help prepare the garden beds and get ready for new crops in the coming weeks.
It’s wonderful to see so much curiosity, care for the environment, and hands-on learning happening across the school!
