Junior Library and Take Home Readers

The Junior Library is ready to go! All year F and 1 teachers, please choose a time on the library timetable and write in your class name.

F-2 Teachers - Here are the parent letters to go home explaining how readers work at CPS. Please make a copy for your class and write the time that you have chosen for library (or year 2, your book swapping day) at the bottom of the letter. Then please send them via Seesaw or you may choose to also print it and put it in the student library bags.

Please also read (especially new teachers) the Decodable Take Home Books Guide for teachers. This has questions and answers on how the process works.

There is also a library slideshow with information on the library and how to borrow.

Please reach out if you have any more questions.

Teacher support for student newspaper

Two of our ingenious Year 6 students are keen to organise a student newspaper for CPS.  If there is anyone who would be keen to support these students with a couple of meetings per term at a lunchtime please let Kim know.  As always, this will be a voluntary job and not able to replace a yard duty.

Thanks!

Clarification - Assigning PAT Tests

There have been a few questions regarding assigning PAT tests for students now that we have our iPads and are ready to do the assessment.  Due to the extra workload on our IT team at the moment, we have not been able to create the usual spreadsheets to advise you what tests to assign to each individual student.

Instead, Simeon has created spreadsheets for the PAT Reading and PAT Maths tests that show you how to determine the correct test for your students based on their previous scale score.

How to interpret the table in your sheet:

Example - if the most recent scale score of a Year 1 student was 85.5, that puts them above the 50th percentile rank and this table indicates they should go up by 1 test from their previous.

Previous scale scores, as well as the previous test number, can be found using the PAT Data Explorer on the ACER OARS website. These sheets also show you exactly where to view the previous scale scores on the website.
