Principal's Message

Welcome back to our MPHPS Newsletter.

I hope you had a great long weekend and that you were able to enjoy the time with your family. Term 4 continues to be busy for us all. We have Kinder students transitioning into Foundation to prepare them for their first year in 2026 and at the other end of our school we have our Year 6 students planning and preparing for their Graduation as they begin the process of moving to year 7. These are very exciting times ahead.

Many staff used their Professional Practice Day over the Cup weekend to work on their end of year reports and to review semester 2 student data. A huge amount of time and energy goes into the reports to ensure they are differentiated and specific to your individual child. Staff also use this time to build their capacity by completing online Department of Education modules or building their knowledge in their specific specialist areas. Our Education Support staff were also able to participate in their own professional learning to ensure they have the opportunity to build their capacity in their own area of expertise.

We have begun to confirm our 2026 staffing profile and are in the process of discussing workplace options. Staffing is always balanced against student numbers, so it is very important that families keep us up to date with any plans to relocate. As always, I am a strong advocate of any staff member looking for promotion, as the expertise held by our staff would be instrumental in supporting new schools as they continue to develop.

It was a pleasure to have been part of the 2026 Year 6 School Captains interview process. I commend every Year 5 student who applied and completed the process of application, presented to staff and their peers, were shortlisted and then attended an interview with the Leadership team. These students, both successful and unsuccessful, should be very proud of their efforts in sharing ideas and responding to a panel. We will announce our successful applicants very soon.

Sadly, I have some frustrating news.  Recently the behaviours in our toilets have become concerning. We have had damaged doors, soap dispensers and now a power point being pulled from the wall. All this damage costs us school funds that could have been better spent elsewhere. We do not have staff on yard duty inside a toilet block; therefore, we expect our students to behave more respectfully while using the facilities. We do our best to provide clean and safe resources for all students.

Thank you to everyone who participated in Crazy Hair and Sock Day. This was a terrific JSC initiative and your support was encouraging for these student leaders.

Wishing you a great fortnight.

Chris
