Week 5, Term 4
Please note that not all classes will have Performing Arts this week due to the long weekend. Some grades may continue their lessons next week instead.
Christmas Carols 🎄🎅🏼🎁🎶

It’s hard to believe, but it is beginning to sound a lot like Christmas in the Performing Arts room! This week, alongside the learning below, classes are starting or continuing to learn their carols and get into the festive spirit. The event will take place on Wednesday, December 3rd, in the late afternoon/evening. Information was emailed to families last week and is also included in the Wonga Weekly here.
PREP
Students are continuing to develop their understanding of space in dance. They’ll move at different levels, directions, and pathways to explore expressive movement, while beginning to experiment with rhythm and timing in their dancing.
GRADE 1/2
Students are beginning a new dance focus that includes warm-ups and movement games to prepare their bodies for dancing. They’ll explore how dance communicates ideas and emotions through well-known dance crazes from different times, developing confidence, coordination and safe dance habits.
GRADE 3/4
In drama, students will work collaboratively with a short script titled Night at the Museum. They will develop their characters together and rehearse how to bring the story to life for an audience, with a particular focus on how they use the performance space effectively.
GRADE 5
Students are continuing their work on the ukulele. After revising the C, A minor, and F chords, they will begin to put chords together into short songs. This week, they will also learn the G and G7 chords, which require three fingers on the fretboard, and practise moving between the chords they have learnt to accompany simple pieces.
GRADE 6
Students are progressing with their creative projects. After developing and pitching their ideas, they are now rehearsing, composing, and/or designing their work. They will continue building towards a final showcase of their Performing Arts skills later in the term.
