Term 4, Week 6

Hi Everyone,

It is official, we are halfway through the term; how did that happen?

I was so fortunate on Friday to get to accompany our year 5 and 6 students on an excursion to the Queensland Academy of Creative Industries to see Grimm’s Tales.  It was utterly outstanding!  We have developed a really strong partnership with QACI and they gifted us those tickets to the show; thank you QACI!  I know many of our children have been applying to specific programs that QACI facilitate too.  It is wonderful to have strong partnerships with neighbouring state schools.

Prep was also lucky and had an incursion to support their learning; story-teller Renata Jayne presented to all of Prep.  In Year 1, the children got to see Star Lab which was inflated in the hall, such wonderful learning opportunities.  Thank you to all our staff in Prep and Year 1 who made this all happen.

Congratulations to all of our Debating Teams who competed last Thursday night.  They all spoke/argued very convincingly, with one Year 5 team taking out a win! CONGRATULATIONS!  Well done to all the children and thank you so much to their coach, Mr James Tait!

Congratulations to all our Year 4-6 Merit certificate recipients, we are very proud of you!

Our Junior Strings did a beautiful job of entertaining us on assembly  -  thank you to these children and Mrs Phoebe Anderson!   This Friday is a Whole School STAR Assembly and the Senior Strings will be entertaining us.

Coming up this week:

  • It is the last week for library lessons and borrowing.
  • Remembrance Day -  Tuesday 11th November
  • Whole School STAR Assembly  - Friday 14th November, 9:15am
  • Religious Instruction  - Friday 14th November
  • Year 5 Leadership Speeches  - Friday 14th November, 2-3pm

Our 2026 Prep Transition afternoons are kicking off next Wednesday the 19th November. We are so excited to meet and get to know our 2026 Preps and their families.

To the other end of the school, I am looking forward to listening to the Year 5 children’s speeches, who are running for leadership positions in 2026.  I am very proud of them for getting in the ring!

As a Leadership Team, we have been working with a regional team to help us successfully lead out school into future.  It is exciting and challenging work.  Tomorrow we are going off-site as a team, along with our regional support team, to work out what needs to happen as a school to achieve these improvements. Thank you to our support team and also Mrs Natala Crawley, who will be the principal in my absence.

Tomorrow is Remembrance Day, when we commemorate those who have sacrificed their lives for freedom.

Lest We Forget.
