BE INVOLVED, BE CONNECTED
This term, Year One has been exploring the enduring question: “How can we care for our earth?”
We’ve been learning about natural resources, the things that harm our planet, such as pollution and litter, and the ways we can help protect it. Our recent incursion, Trash with a Porpoise, was a fun and engaging way to deepen our understanding of the four Rs: reduce, reuse, recycle, and repurpose.
Through a creative puppet show, we discovered the challenges faced by marine life. Every puppet, from the sea slugs and porpoise to the seahorse, penguin, and puffer fish was made entirely from reclaimed, repurposed, and recycled materials! Henry’s favourite was Seahorse and Alex’s was Jackson.
The performance inspired us with wonderful ideas for our own puppet-making project later this term, where we’ll be using everyday household items to design and create our own characters.
