Sustainability @ TPPS

The Grade 2s made some delicious mint tea with mint from the garden, and had a tea party in the staffroom. They were very elegant ladies and gentlemen! We also learned that we must ask an adult to check if a plant is edible.
Grade 1 listened to the story of Tiddalik the Frog. He was so greedy that he drank up all the water in the whole world and there was none left for anyone else! The students decided it is better to only take what you need from nature and leave the rest to share with others.
Grade 3 made beautiful hanging displays in their classrooms about keeping our waterways clean and healthy. We learned some ways to help:
- Wash your car on the lawn to keep the detergent out of the storm water drain
- Don’t use pesticides and weedkillers in your gardens - use environmentally friendly products
- Dispose of medicines correctly - https://returnmed.com.au/
- Pick up litter to avoid it being blown into drains and hurting aquatic animals
- Leave no trace when you visit nature
- Keep your car well maintained to reduce its impact on pollution levels
Mornings are our hens’ favourite time of the day! They love it when the girls come to say hello and let them out to play. All together, they rush out to see what is going on in the garden and to peck around under the blossom trees. What a nice life!
