In Week 3, our Round Square leaders brought the IDEALS of Internationalism, Democracy, Environment, Adventure, Leadership, and Service to life through a series of engaging lunchtime activities.

The week began with Internationalism, as student leaders hosted a Q&A session with past and present exchange students. A delicious array of international foods added flavour to the celebration and gave students a taste of cultures from around the world.

On Tuesday, Democracy took centre stage with an inter-house mini-debate. Teams had just two minutes to prepare and one minute each to present their arguments. The discussions were lively and thought-provoking, with Gordon emerging victorious.

Wednesday marked the launch of the school’s Return and Earn Environment initiative. Students can now return bottles and cans using the KWS barcode, with funds supporting environmental sustainability projects across the Junior and Senior Schools. Items left in the Blue Bins at school will also be collected and processed by our Environment student leaders.

Adventure was the focus on Thursday, with an energetic orienteering challenge around the Senior School. Students solved riddles and navigated the campus with maps and punch cards. This fun and chaotic event will also help Year 6 students transitioning to Year 7, as well as new students, become familiar with the Senior School campus.

The week concluded with a celebration of Leadership and Service. Students and staff took part in Pink Stumps Day and the 24-Hour Walkathon, demonstrating incredible commitment and community spirit. Rev. Sally Yabsley-Bell the Round Square Service Champion will provide more details about this fantastic event.

It was a week full of learning, fun, and collaboration, showcasing the very best of our students and the Round Square IDEALS.

On Friday October 31st and Saturday November 1st, Kinross Wolaroi participated in our 3rd annual 24-hour Pink Stumps walk-a-thon. This was an amazing event raising money and awareness for the work of the McGrath foundation, who support individuals and their families through their cancer journey. With generous donations, fundraising and a bake sale, we were able to raise over $20,000 for this cause, pledging to walk a lap of the main oval for every dollar donated. With the help of teachers, the junior school, friends, family and our fellow peers, the walkers were able to walk 17,544 laps during the 24 hours, with the remaining laps being walked by the school during our Wednesday morning chapel service.

A congratulations to Poppy Warren who walked the most laps, totalling 233 across the 24 hours, to Annabelle Maslin who walked for the whole 24 hours, and Ebony Inman who raised the most money for the cause.

Thank you to the community for generously donating money to this amazing cause, and giving up your time to walk with us, even through the rain. Thank you to the teachers who stayed after school and into the early morning, allowing our dedicated students to walk all night and a special thankyou to Gracie’s at 4 pines, and Pinnacle physiotherapy, who both contributed generous donations for the event.

HICES Sustainability Expo

This week 10 Round Square Environmentalism Ambassadors visited Sydney to attend the HICES Sustainability Expo. Over 2 days the group visited showcase sustainability sites around Sydney, participated in workshops, listened to inspirational speakers from a range of industries and networked with other HICES schools at the Greenhouse Tech Hub. Our stall showcasing the initiatives running at Kinross Wolaroi was popular with other student groups wanting to share ideas.

Interesting places we visited included UTS, Unwanted FC, The Bower and the Greenhouse Tech Hub. We were especially excited to hear from Zoe Iron, Thrifting Queen, who inspired us to keep building our clothes swap.

Watch thisvideo to learn about why you should be part of the thrifting community and swap your clothes at our clothes swap in the Anderson Centre.

The Environmental students are returning to school with renewed passion for our existing projects and motivation to do more in 2026. Come along to our meetings in the Anderson Centre Foyer on Mondays at Lunch to find out more!
