Wellbeing & Paul Dillon

Kinross Wolaroi School was once again privileged to welcome back Paul Dillon, founder of DARTA – Drug and Alcohol Research and Training Australia, who has been presenting to our students for over a decade. Paul’s sessions have become a highly anticipated part of the school calendar, offering our students vital, evidence-based education about alcohol and drug use, decision-making, and personal safety.

Across his presentations to Years 9, 10 and 11, Paul delivered honest, age-appropriate, and engaging messages that resonated deeply with students. With his trademark blend of humour, real-world stories, and data-driven insights, Paul encouraged our young people to think critically about their choices, challenge peer pressure, and recognise the long-term impact of their decisions.

Year 9 students were guided through practical ways to look after themselves and their peers in social settings, while Year 10 explored the myths and realities of teenage drinking and parties. Year 11 engaged in a mature discussion about emerging adult responsibilities, consent, and strategies to manage social pressures as they approach the senior years.

Students were highly engaged throughout the sessions and many commented on how approachable and authentic Paul’s delivery was, noting that his advice felt “real” and “relevant” to their experiences.

Kinross Wolaroi is grateful to have such a long-standing partnership with Paul Dillon, whose commitment to empowering young Australians with accurate information continues to make a meaningful difference in our community. His presentations are an important experience for our students as they learn to make safe, informed choices both now and into the future.
