Two of our Year 8 students enjoyed a national exchange adventure to Scotch College in Perth last term. Below are some comments from Alfie Lord and Zaro Jalal.
I applied for exchange because I wanted to experience life at another school in another state. Everyone at Scotch in Perth was very nice and I enjoyed making new friends and trying new activities. I learned that I am more independent than I thought, and that trying new things can be really rewarding. My advice for anyone else thinking about applying for exchange is to get involved and take opportunities and to enjoy every moment.
- Zaro Jalal
While on exchange I was nervous about meeting the family the long flight over to Perth with my friend was fun and I only felt the nerves when I was walking to baggage collection then I met them. My exchange parents made me feel at home and I had a great time with them. They took me to many places and different experiences like Rottnest Island, surfing and sand boarding. The first weekend I was there we did a 4km fun run.
While away I learnt a lot of independence and how to deal with different problems. Going to school over there was very different. I went to an all-boys school called Scotch College in the city with large, multistorey buildings and all of our classroom were in the same building on the same floor. All the teachers at the school were very welcoming and so were all of the children. The exchange was so fun and I recommend it to all people as it's really a holiday during the term and there are so many people you may become friends with.
- Alfie Lord
Later this term more students will have new adventures to report on from Alice Springs, the Sunshine Coast, Newcastle, Coffs Harbour and Tasmania.
