A small but competitive group from our Equestrian team headed to Tamworth at the end of October for the Inter-schools Horse Extravaganza (ISHE). This major event has both primary and high school divisions, so we had three very keen riders from the Junior School join six Senior School riders to compete. There were 540 riders and 681 horses at the magnificent AELEC complex.
Our riders represented the school with beautifully presented horses and great sportsmanship. Highlights of the event included:

Loreto Normanhurst Regatta Report
After a strong six-week training block and a highly successful October rowing camp, the Kinross Wolaroi Rowing Squad travelled to the Sydney International Regatta Centre to launch our 2025/26 campaign. It was an exciting and nerve-wracking occasion for our Junior rowers, many making their debut in the Two Blue zootie.
Our Intermediate Girls Eight got the weekend off to a flying start with a commanding 4.5-second victory in a nine-lane race for the ages. The crew burst out of the blocks and maintained composure and rhythm to hold off eight determined Sydney schools — a tremendous performance to set the tone for the day.
The Schoolboy 1st Quad, expertly stroked by Rowing Captain Toby Buckland, showed poise and precision to claim victory in the Open event by a clear boat length, while our Year 10 Boys Quad stepped up impressively to place a commendable fourth in the same category.
In the Regatta’s main event, the Schoolgirl 1st Eight produced a resilient and determined row to claim the silver medal behind a strong Pymble crew. Facing illness, adversity, and a few curveballs in the lead-up, this was an effort full of grit — one that has undoubtedly ignited the fire for the season ahead.
Backing up shortly after their race, our Year 10 Girls Eight combined with senior reinforcements Katie Lawler and Kaiti Smith to contest the 2nd Eight event. In what the commentary team dubbed the race of the day, the crew fought fiercely from start to finish, narrowly missing victory to the host school by a photo finish. A phenomenal effort from a group only recently transitioning to sweep rowing and 2km racing.
Our Junior crews faced the daunting challenge of their first-ever regatta with courage and pride. Their determination and composure on the start line — and the way they represented Kinross and their families — was outstanding. The energy, focus, and intensity displayed in the training sessions since the regatta have been exceptional.
Individual performances were equally impressive. Toby Buckland and Hamish Searle both claimed victory in their respective Single Scull divisions, while Rahni Jarick comfortably won her event. Lucy Reidy, as always, delivered a trademark performance, taking silver in a fiercely contested Division 1 race. Meanwhile, Grace Tancred and Katie Lawler combined superbly in the Open Double Scull to earn an outstanding silver medal.
Kinross concluded the regatta with an impressive 6 Gold, 8 Silver, and 6 Bronze medals — a strong reflection of the squad’s depth, discipline, and collective spirit. The coaching team could not be prouder of the attitude, resilience, and teamwork shown across all crews.
We now turn our attention to the Golden Oar Regatta this weekend in Canberra before returning to Penrith on 15 November as our Girls' Squad takes on another exciting challenge against our city counterparts.
Best wishes to all of our sporting teams in their upcoming fixtures.
