Wominjeka to OSHC

Coordinator: Alexis Simmonds and Assistant Coordinator: Sarah Emerson

Week 5 & 6  - 3rd - 13th November   2025

We acknowledge the first peoples of the Kulin Nation, their Dreaming of the past, present and future. We pay our respect for their land by looking after the land we learn and play on.

The end of our Halloween and Harry Potter week was spooky and magical all at the same time. Hockey sticks turned broom sticks had children flying around the Quidditch (soccer) pitch. With slight adjustments the junior and senior games respectively were spectacular under the watchful eye of umpire Emily. Chasers shot some great goals while the Keepers were able to make some excellent saves. Seekers hunted high and low but there could be only one victorious Seeker to score the 150 points for their team. More popular than ever it will return again in 2026.

Kate organised a haunted Halloween photo booth for children to have some fun with dress ups and get some creepy photos taken, a new take on our usual Christmas photo booth. Lucy ran a wand making class, using chopsticks as the base and hot glue for the detail, each student was presented with a totally unique wand to decorate. Another activity heavily requested to happen again.

Our OSHC garden has now been fitted out with a mini greenhouse for seed growing that can then be planted or made available to share with our OSHC community. Some of our beautiful families have donated a few cuttings for our Aussie native flower beds at the front of OSHC and Leo donated some spinach and tomato plants that are now safely in our new veggie garden, along with parsley, basil and zucchini. A few tiny apples have been spotted and we’re patiently waiting for our nectarines to ripen if they can survive little hands picking them too early.

We’re very excited to once again be able to enjoy this space, use our ingredients in cooking, learn about our environment and how things grow and of course share our produce with our OSHC families.
