Principal's Update

Founders' Day Award

Founders’ Day is a special day where we honour the men and women whose vision and dedication established King’s College as a Christian school in Warrnambool. The School began in 1986 in temporary premises before moving into its first building on the current Balmoral Road site in 1987. Each Founders’ Day, we also acknowledge an individual who hasmade a significant contribution to the life of the College.

This year it was a privilege to honour Gail Zeunert for her outstanding service to King’s College as a teacher. Since beginning in 1992, Gail has modelled Christ-centred education, combining excellence in teaching with deep care for students and families. Gail’s classrooms have always been God-centred spaces of respect, belonging, and joy, where prayer and faith are naturally woven into every subject. Her ability to inspire learning through creativity, humour, and music has left lasting memories for generations of students.

A gifted musician, Gail has led countless Christmas song practices, created fun musical moments in the classroom, and helped establish the King’s College Pipes and Drums band, coordinating with tutors, supporting learners, and keeping everything running smoothly, right down to the uniforms and morning tea.

Beyond teaching, Gail is known for her warmth, generosity, and famous pastie rolls, shared to bless others in times of need. She has built lasting relationships with students, families, and colleagues, regularly keeping in touch with the College community. Always humble, organised, and willing to serve wherever needed, Gail exemplifies integrity, love, and servant-hearted leadership.

Her commitment to Christian education began long before teaching at King’s, living out Joshua 24:15: “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Whether teaching Prep, senior primary, or music, Gail’s passion for her work and her students has been remarkable.

We thank God for Gail’s faithful service, her influence in the lives of so many, and her steadfast commitment to honouring Him through her work. She leaves an enduring legacy of love, excellence, and joy that will continue to bless King’s College for years to come.
