A Message from the Principal

Dear families and friends,
Last weekend, our Year 4 students gathered with their families and parish community to celebrate their First Holy Communion. This sacrament is one of the most significant milestones in our Catholic faith journey—it is the first time our children receive the Eucharist, which we believe is the true presence of Jesus in the form of bread and wine.
For Catholics, the Eucharist is not just a symbol but the heart of our faith. Each time we receive it, we are nourished spiritually, reminded of God’s love, and strengthened to live as people of kindness, service, and hope in the world. For our children, their First Communion is like being welcomed to the family table in a new and deeper way. It marks a step into belonging more fully to the Church community and reminds us that, at the centre of our faith, is a God who wants to be close to us and walk with us in our daily lives.
As Jesus said: “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry” (John 6:35). This promise reminds us that God feeds our hearts with love, courage, and peace whenever we draw close to Him.
We thank our students, their families, the parish and their teachers (Mrs Nadia Thomas, Miss Chloe Collard and Mrs Christine Pitman) for preparing so thoughtfully for this special day. May their First Communion inspire all of us to treasure the moments when we come together at the Lord’s table and draw strength from God’s love.
In another wonderful celebration of our young people, our Primary Choir represented the College at the Catholic Performing Arts Festival last week. Their performance was outstanding—not only in the beauty of their voices but in the way they shared their gifts with joy and confidence. Their wonderful performance bore fruit in their achievement of the Excellence award!
The arts hold a vital place in education, giving students opportunities to express creativity, grow in self-belief, and step outside their comfort zones. Performing on stage takes courage, teamwork, and resilience, and our students showed all these qualities. A special thank you to Mr Paul Leeder for the time and effort he put into preparing the choir and supporting our students.
These two occasions highlight different but equally valuable aspects of our students’ growth. In the Eucharist, our Year 4s have drawn closer to Christ and deepened their place in our faith community. In the Performing Arts, our choir students have shown the courage to share their gifts with others in a public way. Together, they remind us that a Catholic education nurtures both the heart of faith and the development of each child’s God-given talents.
God bless!
