Performing Arts

This term in Performing Arts, all students have been busily preparing for our upcoming Arts Extravaganza concert at the end of Term 4. Each class has chosen a favourite movie as the inspiration for their performance piece. From there, students worked together to plan the characters, select the music, and decide how to structure their item. They have also brainstormed the costumes and props they will need to bring their ideas to life on stage.

With the planning complete, students have begun devising and rehearsing their performances, learning the importance of teamwork, creativity and expression. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm and imagination shine as they step into the roles of actors, dancers, singers and directors. We are very excited to share their hard work with families at the Arts Extravaganza next term!

Arts Extravaganza Concert Costume Information:

Students will be making their own costume items during their Visual Arts classes but we ask for parent support in providing some basic coloured clothing as outlined below. The school holidays may be the perfect time for you to organise this.

All students are required to wear plain black pants or shorts – preferably with no logos, pictures or slogans. A skirt can be worn if required for cultural/religious reasons, but please keep in mind that the children need to be able to dance without restricting their movement.

Students will be required to wear a simple short- or long-sleeved t-shirt in the following colours (see below), depending on their grade. The t-shirt should be plain with no logos, slogans or pictures.

For students who wear religious/cultural items such as a hijab or turban, it would be great if it can match your costume. For any other cultural/religious concerns, children can visit Ms Popovic or Ms Stacey during lunchtimes, they will very happily support you to find an appropriate costume.

We hope this provides parents with enough time to source items. If students do not already own items as described, we believe they should be easily and inexpensively sourced from stores such as Kmart, Big W or Best and Less.

 For example:

$2.25 at Big W

 $3.50 at Kmart

We also understand that there is currently a cost-of-living crisis, and so if there are any difficulties whatsoever sourcing an appropriate costume item, families and children are most welcome and strongly encouraged to talk to their classroom or the Arts teachers (Ms Popovic or Ms Stacey) for support.
