Class Updates and Reminders

Messages from our Learning Levels...

General Reminders (All Year Levels)

Hats

It is important that your child brings their school hat every day in Term 4. Their hats will be used for playing outside and any school activities that require students to be outside. If your child does not have a hat, they will be asked to play in the shade at break times. Please ensure that your child's name is on their hat. This will make it easier to be returned if it is lost.

Homework

95% of the Year 1s completed their Mathseeds homework last week. We are proud to see some strong homework routines established this year. The expectation is 1 lesson of Mathseeds completed a week (Sunday - Saturday). The other homework expectation is reading 4 nights for 15 minutes.

Year 2

Reminders:

Homework

Thank you for your continued support in instilling a strong homework routine for your child. The expectation is 1 lesson of Mathseeds completed a week (Sunday - Saturday). Please remember that Sunday starts the new week.

The other homework expectation is reading 4 nights for 15 minutes. This is to be written in your child's diary and signed. Diaries should come to school every day.

Devices

Our Year 2 students really enjoy engaging with our programs (Maths Invaders and Reading Eggspress). When your child forgets their iPad or it is on a low percentage/flat, this restricts their engagement. Thank you for your continued support in creating a home routine with your child which involves charging their iPad and placing it in their bag.

Reminders:

Morning Arrival

We have noticed that some students are arriving at school early but heading to class only after the bell, after spending time playing in the forecourt. Please encourage your child to begin walking upstairs by 8:50am so they can reach Level 5 on time, use the bathroom if needed, set up their desk, and be ready on the floor for morning reminders. Rolls are marked between 9:00 and 9:05am. Thank you to the many students already following these routines, these are great habits to build as we prepare for secondary school.

Reading & AR Quizzes

Students are expected to read for at least 30 minutes each evening and record this in their student diary. AR quizzes should be completed at school once students have finished their book. As we head into Week 5, this marks the halfway point for students to reach their AR targets. Please check in at home to see how your child is progressing. The expectation is that reading occurs each school night and that students show their diary to their teacher each morning.
