Dear Karoo PS Community,
What a Fun-Filled Fortnight at Karoo Primary School!
The past two weeks have been bursting with energy, creativity, and achievement across our school community!
Our Science Day was a huge success, with students diving into hands-on experiments, exciting demonstrations, and fascinating discoveries. It was a joy to see curiosity come alive in every classroom!
In Maths, teamwork took centre stage during the Coin Challenge. Students collaborated brilliantly to build the longest line of coins! Our talented performers have continued the State School Spectacular (SSS) rehearsals, showing great dedication as they prepare for this exciting event in September! Meanwhile, our Middle School students enjoyed special visits to local kindergartens, engaging younger children with stories, songs, and smiles – building beautiful community connections.
Congratulations to the winners of our Deadly Door Competition - 6D! All our Deadly Doors were sensational! The creativity and effort that went into celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture was truly inspiring.
We were also proud to support two of our students, Chloe V and Cleo M at the Rotary Speech Night, where both present their outstanding speeches to an exceptionally high standard.
Book Week brought colour and imagination to the school grounds. On Thursday, we had the excitement of the Sleeping Beauty Alpha Show come and perform for our students and what a performance! We were in awe of the lights, sounds and storytelling!
Today, we welcomed our school community to our Book Week Parade! Our school was full of colour and imagination as our favourite book characters came alive!! Thank you to our whole school community - students, staff and families for making the parade such a sensational event!
We want our parents/caregivers/guardians to tell us what they think!
Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.
Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.
The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 18 August to Friday 19 September 2025. All families are invited to participate in the survey.
The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.
The online survey will be available in English and 3 other languages - Dari, Persian and Simplified Chinese. Resources are also available in additional languages to assist parents / caregivers / guardians who speak a language other than English at home. Please reach out to your child’s teacher, or the school directly for survey guides in your language.
Last year we used the survey results to inform the key directions our schools Annual Implementation Plan (AIP), as we value our communities feedback to continue to improve our school. I thank our school community in advance for completing the survey.
I would like to provide you with an update regarding Mrs Cassandra Blonik (4BH) and the commencement of her maternity leave. Ms Blonik will be commencing her maternity leave from Thursday the 28th of August.
We are very fortunate that Mrs Jacinta Travaglini, who has been a familiar and consistent presence at Karoo PS, will be replacing Ms Blonik and will continue teaching the class for the remainder of 2025, on Monday to Thursday.
I know you will join me in sending your continued best wishes to Ms Blonik and her family during this exciting time, as we welcome Ms Jacinta Travaglini into our Year 4 team.
Have a wonderful fortnight and I look forward to seeing you around our sensational school!
Kind Regards,
Courtney Hoffmann
