Energy literacy for women and gender diverse people
About the session
In Australia, women are disproportionately affected by energy stress or energy poverty, which is when households struggle to either access or afford energy for a decent quality of life. Energy stress isn't just about financial hardship; it has many causes, including lack of access to clean-energy options, living in older houses that are difficult to retrofit, or just not understanding the many technologies, rebates, and product choices that are available.
To empower women and the LGBTQIA+ community to be more energy savvy, a free, full-day workshop on energy-efficiency and electrification is being offered. Suited to both beginners and those with existing knowledge, it will be a great opportunity for women and gender-diverse people to share ideas, get expert advice, and discover how they can create a comfortable, efficient, and eco-friendly home suited to their specific budget and needs. All in a supportive and inclusive environment.
