Principal's Desk

Dear Families,

Welcome to this edition of our school newsletter! It’s been a wonderful term so far, filled with learning, growth, and plenty of moments to celebrate. We’re excited to share some of the highlights with you and keep you connected with all that’s happening in our school community.

As we move through the term, it’s a joy to see our students embracing new challenges, building friendships, and contributing to the vibrant life of our school. We hope you enjoy this snapshot of the wonderful things happening across our community.

Holy Trinity Trivia Night - A HUGE success!

What an amazing night we had celebrating our Trivia Night last Saturday evening! It was so

wonderful to see so many people in attendance and the energy in the room was full of excitement!

A very special thank you must go to Amelia Rolfs, Prue & Luke Penhalluriack, and Simone Goeree for their work over the past 6 months in preparation, and to the many donors of prizes & auction items. We managed to raise approximately $5,334 which is an absolutely amazing effort. This money will go towards some new resources and equipment for the students.

School Crossing Safety – Camera Trial

To improve safety at school crossings, Knox Council will be introducing mobile cameras to help reduce the risks faced by our School Crossing Supervisors.

Unfortunately, incidents such as vehicles driving through crossings, queuing over the crossing, speeding, and even verbal abuse towards supervisors occur too often. The introduction of cameras aims to encourage drivers to follow road rules and, most importantly, keep our students, families, and supervisors safe.

The cameras will be attached to the larger crossing post at the beginning of each shift and removed at the end, so they will only operate during school crossing times.

If an incident occurs, the School Crossing Supervisor will report it to Council (as is current practice). Council will review the footage and, if necessary, forward it to Knox Police for action. Please note that Supervisors will not have access to the footage, and Knox Council will not be storing any recordings. Once sent to Knox Police, the camera memory will be cleared.

Below is an example of the camera and signs at an existing crossing point in Mitchell Shire. We expect the cameras to be installed near the Holy Trinity School Crossing during Term 4. We will provide families with further details, including exact timing and locations, before the rollout begins.

Joke of the Week

A mother with three young children was getting dinner ready when the phone rang. The six- year-old picked it up and said, "Hi, Daddy!" and she began telling him about her day.

She then passed the phone to her brother and sister as was the custom whenever Daddy called from work.

When it was finally the wife's turn to talk she took the receiver and said, "Hi, honey."

"Thank goodness, lady," the voice on the other end replied. "I just called to tell you that the wallpaper you ordered is here!"

Final Thoughts

Life is a one-way street. No matter how many detours you take, none of them lead back. So enjoy life’s every moment as none of them will happen the same way again.

Kind regards,

Steve Evans
