Learning Together: Inspired by Courage

Learning isn’t always easy—but it’s in the struggle that we grow.

On Monday, I had the privilege of hearing Scott B. Harris speak. As a survivor of a major brain injury, Scott shared how his life was transformed by perseverance, grit, and the support of others. His story reminded me that setbacks can become stepping stones when we choose courage over fear.

Scott’s journey is a powerful example of what it means to keep going, even when the path is uncertain. In our school, learning together means encouraging one another, celebrating effort, and embracing challenges. Whether you're a student tackling a tough subject or a parent supporting your child through change, remember: growth happens when we lean in, not when we give up.

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."
Galatians 6:9

Debating Club Victories

The Good News Lutheran College Debating Club has competed in interschool online debates, challenging schools throughout Victoria. At the start of Term 2, we committed three teams of talented debaters to the frontier, where students battled over topics impossible and absurd. Our teams have proven themselves time and time again, demonstrating excellent teamwork and communication, and upholding the values of good sportsmanship for their opponents.

We’d like to highlight Team C, who have won every round that they competed in, no matter the odds. We would commend all of our teams for their sharp thinking and clear communication; a true show of dignity and talent.

This term, we have 6 teams with over 27 members, and we host fortnightly debates. Our club is open for students to join in, have fun, and improve your skills in a friendly and sincere environment.

Secondary School Table Tennis Update

Over the past couple of weeks, our Good News Lutheran College table tennis teams have showcased their skill, determination, and teamwork at Eagle Stadium. We are thrilled to congratulate the Year 7 Boys & Girls teams, as well as the Year 8 Boys & Girls teams, who have all successfully progressed to the next round of competition!

These teams will now represent the college later this year at the Geelong Table Tennis Centre, and we couldn’t be prouder of their efforts.

Well done to all players involved!
