Lacrosse Clinic & Hula Hoop Week!

P.E. at MPS is back for 2024!

We have SO many exciting things planned for this year and we can’t wait to get started.

Lacrosse Clinic:

This week classes across the school had an opportunity to have a session of Lacrosse!

Last year MPS hosted lacrosse for the first time and this year we are consolidating our skills even further. In 2023 we loved this sport so much that we had students signing up to clubs as an outer school activity and we even had a lacrosse interschool sport team. A special thank you to Eltham Lacrosse Club who have come out to teach these clinics again.

Hula Hoop Week:

To celebrate the start of the new school year, we started off with some team building activities.

Each class participated in three different hula hoop team building games. The first game was ‘don’t break the chain’. Students stood in a circle hand in hand, they had to use teamwork and their bodies to get the hula hoop around the circle without unlinking hands. This was so much fun, what made it even more exciting was timing each go and trying to beat the clock! Congratulations to the year 2s who hold the record of 1 minute and 2 seconds.

Then we played a game called ‘stepping stones'. Teams had to get to the other side of the basketball court by only using the hula hoops as their steps. These relays were so much fun and everyone did so well. House points were up for grabs!

Finally, we finished the lesson off with the best game of them all, ‘Gates’. This was a brilliant team building activity. Students had to use hula hoops, running skills, each other and concentration to get a cone one by one to the gate keeper. The first team to get all their cones in the gates were the winners. This game has been requested again! It was very popular.

Well done to all those teams that won house points for their house!
